2016 Rosé Pinot Noir Pommard | RIVETER | Chehalem Mts, Oregon

“Rosie the Riveter” is a pop culture icon representing the American women who took over factory labor during WWII.  Women worked a variety of roles, but the aviation industry saw the largest increase to 65% of the total workforce. Historians speculate that women were successful at riveting because it closely resembled sewing. The majority of large bombers and small fighters were built by women, and many of those planes were flown to the war front by women as well.

Tasting notes: Hand picked pinot noir, 100% pommard clone. Saignée from four day cold-soak at 10°C. Punched down and pumped over. Specialized yeast used to convert malic acid. Forty-five day ferment remained <20°C.
