Pinot Noir

2018 Pinot Noir 113 | Battle Taxi | Chehalem Mts

The M113 was the first mass produced aluminum hull combat vehicle – making it light enough to be air transportable, moderately amphibious, and thick enough to protect against small arms fire. The M113 helped define the first generation of mechanized infantry. Dubbed as a “battle taxi” – the M113’s versatility spawned a variety of adaptations that live on worldwide. The M113 is routinely called the most significant infantry vehicle in history. To date, over 80,000 M113s have been produced and used by over 50 countries, making it one of the most widely used armored fighting vehicles of all time.

Winemaking notes: Late harvest hand picked pinot noir from the edge of the Chehalem Mountains. Destemmed and punched down daily over a two week ferment. Malolactic fermented in barrel. Stirred on the lees for stability & flavor profile. Aged with French convection toasted oak. Ideally stored neck down between a constant 10-18°C (50-65°F)

Tasting notes: This wine is built around an off beat pinot noir dijon clone called "113" - This clone is not your typical pinot noir – it is coming at you with more depth and grip than your standard Willamette Valley pinot. It drinks like a bigger red such as a merlot or cabernet franc. Battle Taxi shows lush blue fruit up front with a strong  tannin profile that's washed down with soft acids.
