The Bantam Reconnaissance Car holds the historical significance as the original “Jeep”. Produced by American Bantam in 1940, the BRC-40 was designed for military reconnaissance and was a pioneer in many regards as it was the first mass produced 4WD passenger vehicle. Powerful, versatile, and highly maneuverable, the BRC fulfilled countless duties and earned the name “Jeep” from the slurred military acronym “GP” or General Purpose. Production was ultimately fulfilled by Willys and Ford as the vehicle played a pivotal role in WWII. After the war, the “Jeep” became a symbol of American ruggedness with the first civilian “Jeep”, the CJ, leaving an indelible mark on the automotive industry & popular culture.

Winemaking notes: Hand picked pinot noir from two vineyards on the opposite sides of Iowa Hill in the Chehalem Mountains. A mix of Pinot Noir clones including Wädenswil, 777, 667, and 115. Contains a live culture of S. cerevisiae & O. oeni with natural and added sulfites for freshness. Unfined with no inorganic additives, animal products, or residual sugar. Aged for 1.5 years on the lees with French Med+ toasted oak.

Tasting notes: Bantam is a light bodied, pale ruby pinot noir, with a translucent quality. The aroma and palate are dominated with notes of cherry and cranberry with subtle floral undertones. Bantam ignites the palate with bright and juicy flavors and are complemented with pomegranate and red currant. Soft and subtle tannins provide the structure without overwhelming the delicate profile. A light and lingering finish coats the palate with cherry, baking spice, and refreshing acidity.
