“Sgt. Reckless” was a remarkable mare who served alongside the Marines during the Korean War, and is arguably America's greatest war horse. She embodied the bravery, loyalty, and sacrifice of horses throughout history. Originally a Korean racehorse, she was purchased by the 5th Marines to transport 75mm ammo. Reckless quickly became a beloved and indispensable Marine by running wire, delivering supplies, and evacuating wounded. During the Battle of Outpost Vegas, she made 51 treacherous solo trips under intense fire to deliver 4.5 tons of ammo within 24hrs. Known for her intelligence and calm under pressure - she was promoted to SSgt, awarded two purple hearts, and retired at Camp Pendleton. Her dedication reflects the bond between horses and mankind, reminding us of the crucial role equines have played in shaping civilization.

» Winemaking notes: Hand picked single block cabernet franc from Veteran owned & operated Foxley Estate Vineyard in the Columbia Gorge. Aged on the lees in Hungarian medium-plus oak for 2 years. Malo-lactic fermented. No additional additives, preservatives, animal products, or residual sugar. Polish filtered for clarity and stability. Enjoy slightly chilled.

Rich notes of red plum and black cherry intertwine with soft vanilla tannins, creating a supple mouthfeel and a lingering finish. Subtle hints of spice enhance its complexity, making it a wine that's easy to drink. Reckless pairs well with roasted meats, aged cheeses, or simply savoring on its own.
